GLOBAL
Haiti ~ 2010
We have partnered with Clear Blue Global Water Projects to fund two fresh water pumps in Haiti after the devastating earthquake.
Kenya ~ 2009–2010
We have sent two teams to Kakuyuni, Kenya through our partnership with Heavenly Treasures. Check out all the great work Heavenly Treasures in doing around the globe to help people break the cycle of poverty.
What a great joy it is to share the love and hope of Christ with 200 AIDS orphans that we call the Kamba Kids. In 2009 we celebrated a well project there that is transforming the village!
Sudan ~ 2009
Through our partnership with Empowering Lives International we are helping to rebuild a community in Southern Sudan. Sudanese Christians are returning home after 20 years in refugee camps and they only have the New Testament translated in their language. Pastor Jim had the honor of teaching leaders the Old Testament and it was the first time they had ever heard it! We helped fund a new school in Kolmarek, Sudan, where we are sponsoring education and feeding the children.
Thailand ~ 2007
In the spring 2007, we sent our Resurrection Offering to Zoë Children’s Home in Thailand. They are rescuing children off the streets before they are forced into slavery. We also sent huge tubs of gift bags filled with hygiene items and school supplies.
Ethiopia ~ 2004–2005
We purchased land and built a church in Zeway, Ethiopia, and also sponsor many school children there. We partnered in building a medical center in Addis, Ababa, the capitol city.
Planting Trees
In 2006, The River Church partnered financially with the Eden Project to plant tens of thousands of trees, heal the environment, provide fruit and jobs in Ethiopia. Eden Reforestation Projects recreates healthy forest systems that restore hope, alleviate suffering, empower people, and build local economies in impoverished communities.
Fighting Slavery
In the fall of 2008, we partnered financially with International Justice Mission (IJM), fighting slavery all over the world and set many free, including little children. They investigate, send captors to prison and work with local governments to change laws. They help victims recover in aftercare facilities. These people are truly super-heroes for the cause of Christ.
LOCAL
We Love Long Beach!
Long Beach Rescue Mission is a dynamic influence in our city. It has been a pleasure to serve them monthly helping feed the homeless at the Samaritan House and serving the women and children of the Lydia House in our city. We have helped with backpacks and school supplies, clothing drive and food bank supplies.
Miller Children's Hospital has 250 pediatric beds and 70 in neonatal. In 2009 we helped by donating craft supplies, activities, video games, and Wii for kids and their families.
Edgewater Nursing Care Facility is a great place for us to share twice monthly in music, hugs and a message of hope.
